Like a fascinating book I hoped would never end.
What’s a lesson that you learned through LC that has stuck with you and why?
Charlotte has so much to offer and so many facets, like a diamond, that anyone could get involved and help facilitate change.
Greatest personal accomplishment and why:
As Budget Chairman and Economic Development Chairman for the City Council, serving concurrently for 10 years, I was in a role to help build Charlotte.
What are you doing in the community these days?
I recently launched a website named Word on the Street that will profile, twice a month, a leader in Charlotte, provide gossipy political and business scuttlebutt, and an opinion piece written by me.
How has your life after Leadership Charlotte surprised you and why?
Leadership Charlotte was my jump start into a political life…four years on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission and fourteen years on the Charlotte City Council, serving as Mayor Pro Tem. I never ever dreamed I wold one day hold political office.
