Hometown: Jesup, Georgia
Education: University of Georgia
Current or personal leadership goal: My goal for 2017 is to be really intentional about where I spend my time and energy.
What advice would you give to current Leadership Charlotte participants?
I would advise current class members to really take full advantage of the entire experience – participate in the discussion, go to the socials, develop relationships with your classmates and decide where/how you can be involved in Charlotte going forward.
How did your Leadership Charlotte experience affect what you’re doing today?
Going through Leadership Charlotte has helped me learn to take a step back from my views and really think about the issues from other perspectives. Environment shapes ideals and beliefs and very rarely do two people today share similar environments so we have to put ourselves in the shoes of others in order to work together towards a common goal.
Favorite nonprofit or community organization in Charlotte and why:
Community Link. Their mission – to enable individuals to obtain and sustain safe, decent and affordable housing – is near and dear to my heart.
Greatest personal accomplishment:
Ran two full marathons and multiple halves.
How has your life after Leadership Charlotte surprised you and why?
I have developed some amazing relationships with people from my class and with other alumni that I met through the organization. I wouldn’t trade those for anything.
