What are your current personal or leadership goals?
At this stage in my career, my goal is to mentor others—not just in words, but through my actions. I want to share what I’ve learned and help others recognize their potential.
Through your role in Opening Weekend, what mindset or intention do you hope participants carry with them?
For 19 years, I’ve been honored to support Opening Weekend and lead the Frames of Reference session. My background as a counselor and experience in both the public and private sectors helped shape this unique experience. I hope participants leave with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to see beyond their own frame of reference—long after they descend from the mountain.
What’s your best advice for current Leadership Charlotte participants about making the most of the experience?
Go all in. Leadership Charlotte is an experience, not simply a series of classes. Listen, learn, and lean into the open, diverse, and real conversations with your classmates. You never know where those relationships may lead—my GoodWorks TV show got on the air because of a Leadership Charlotte relationship.
What’s one lesson from your Leadership Charlotte experience that sticks with you today?
Open up and be vulnerable. Authenticity creates deeper, more meaningful relationships. Some of my strongest connections from Leadership Charlotte were built on trust, honesty, and a willingness to truly see—and be seen by—others. Shout out to Class 25!
In what ways do you stay engaged in the Charlotte community, and how could fellow alumni join you?
I try to support organizations quietly—not only financially, but also by connecting people to resources and opportunities. Through my role at Spectrum, I’ve been fortunate to support Charlotte organizations focused on digital education, small businesses, and job skills training. I encourage fellow alumni to follow their passions and use their unique strengths to make an impact.
What’s your favorite way to recharge on the weekend?
I don’t need much to recharge—time with family, some sunshine, and any opportunity to work with kids. I love the kids! Those simple moments keep me grounded and connected to what matters most.
Shout out a local nonprofit or initiative making a difference — what do they do, and why does their mission speak to you?
I really admire Crisis Assistance Ministry and its commitment to meeting the basic and vital needs of our community. When people have access to essentials like shelter, food, and clothing, they can focus on everything else. Just as importantly, Crisis Assistance Ministry gives people dignity and hope.
I support Leadership Charlotte because…
it brings together people who might otherwise never have met and prepares them to better understand and address the needs of our city. The relationships and experiences—beginning at Opening Weekend—can have an impact far beyond the program itself.
