What advice would you give to current Leadership Charlotte participants?
Connect with your classmates – this will lead to collaboration and job opportunities, and friendships, going forward. Soak in the abundant info shared with you – it will enrich your life and give you ideas for how to get involved and make a difference.
What’s a lesson that you learned through LC that has stuck with you and why?
Challenges our Charlotte region faces are huge, impactful and intertwined (e.g., giving a sound education to all students; ensuring all people have affordable housing and access to transportation and healthy food). Leaders need to collaborate and understand people’s varying needs, experiences, and opinions to better serve all community members.
What would you like to see Leadership Charlotte alumni get involved in and why?
I hope that alum find areas they are passionate about to use their talents, skills and connections to make a difference.
Favorite way to spend a weekend in Charlotte:
Outdoors with my family – such as playing disc golf or skating at Renaissance Park or exploring Freedom Park.
Favorite nonprofit or community organization in Charlotte and why?
Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation which works to ensure we have healthy waterways. I love all of the ways they have to get involved – such as volunteering at its annual Riversweep event; educational opportunities like the annual State of the River; taking (or volunteering in) a guided kayak tour or visiting its taproom. And its experts are accessible.
