Current personal or leadership goals: Continue to get involved in civic and cultural activities that help shape the City of Charlotte in a positive manner
If you could describe your Leadership Charlotte experience in three words, what would they be?
Eye opening, challenging, and engaging!
What advice that you would you give to current Leadership Charlotte participants and why?
Fully immerse yourself in the experience and try not to miss any of the program days. Because of work I missed one of the days (Justice Day) and missed out on a significant experience with my class mates.
Favorite way to spend a weekend in Charlotte:
Outdoors on a golf course with my sons for part of it and then enjoying the community amenities Charlotte has to offer with my family.
What’s a lesson that you learned through LC that has stuck with you and why?
That diversity of opinions and thought when voiced in a non-confrontational environment can lead to tremendous innovation and thought expansion. This lesson helps me build more diverse teams at work with the understanding that diversity brings vibrancy and idea generation.
What would you like to see Leadership Charlotte alumni get involved in and why?
One of the major issues at a top level facing our city is the gap in economic mobility and stability. Whatever way Leadership Charlotte can play a leading role in advocacy for change and improvement we should be in the forefront.
How has your life after Leadership Charlotte surprised you and why?
I chuckle at this one because I thought I was a social person but I have become much more adapt and comfortable at meeting people and networking in crowds and at social events.
