What advice that you would you give to current Leadership Charlotte participants?
“Be present!” The experiences and exposure to different ideas and perspectives can only make you a better leader if you listen and understand.
What program day stands out in your memory and why?
Charlotte: Past, Present & Future. Since it was the first program day, it set the stage for the rest of the program. It also provided a peak behind the curtain of the city and helped us appreciate the wonderful community we live in.
Favorite way to spend a weekend in Charlotte:
Charlotte offers so much for families. If we’re not watching youth sports, or taking in a Panthers, Hornets, or Knight’s game, we’re exploring some part of the city. Greenways, Whitewater Center, dinner, shopping or just hanging out with neighbors, we keep ourselves busy!
Greatest personal accomplishment and why.
Being a dad. The day my wife found out she was pregnant, my life changed forever for the better. To be a parent you have to be selfless and learn to put the needs of others ahead of your own. In a way, that is a lesson applicable to all parts of your life from serving your God, being a leader at work, and serving the community. Being a dad has made me a better person.
Topic or area in Charlotte that you would like to learn more about and why:
Google Fiber coming to Charlotte. I largely understand the benefits but would like to better understand efforts by the city to get it here and what we’ll need to do to prepare for the future. What can be done to ensure all parts of the city can benefit?
